In 2010, around a hundred local coffee farmers united to establish Duromina, which translates to "to improve their lives" in Afan Oromo.
Previously, despite favorable climate and altitude, the region's coffee fell short of global standards due to inadequate quality control. Thanks to TechnoServe's Coffee Initiative, Duromina successfully achieved high-quality coffee production, ushering in newfound prosperity for the community.
Just two years later, an international panel of expert judges recognized Duromina's coffee as the finest in Africa.
